At Redeemer Lutheran Church all people are welcomed into the community united by the grace, love, and forgiveness we know in Jesus Christ.

Jesus was famous for extending a radical welcome to everyone he met, crossing over all human made lines and boundaries. The congregation at Redeemer Lutheran Church having received Jesus welcome ourselves, extends that same reception to all people. No exceptions.

Redeemer Lutheran Church recognizes and repents for the historical mistreatment of all minorities and marginalizes communities by the Church universal.

Further, the members of Redeemer commit to racial equity for all people. As followers of Jesus we pledge ourselves to the work of antiracism by working against all forms of oppression and discrimination contrary to the witness of Jesus Christ.

We welcome all who seek to follow Jesus regardless of race, ethnicity, class, age, gender, marital status, nationality, physical or mental ability, sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression, and family configuration, to journey together toward the promised land of God.
Who are we
Redeemer Lutheran Church is a daughter church of Christ Lutheran. Chartered in 1904, Worship services started in 1903.

We are located in the west side of the city at the junction of Pearl Street and Fifth Street. Redeemer church is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and belongs to the Lower Susquehanna Synod. The word “church” originates from the word kyrike and means “belonging to the Lord.” This belief that we belong to the Lord under-girds and guides the mission and ministry of our congregation. This God to whom we belong is a relational Deity and, as such, we see ourselves blessedly relating to the God who first comes to us and will “never leave us or forsake us” (Heb. 13:5). We also relate to the peoples and world around us.
Our ministry at Redeemer is indeed relational. We come together in worship services to receive God’s gracious presence in word and sacraments, as we thank and praise God for blessings received and pray for God’s ongoing guidance in our lives. God enriches our spiritual formation as we learn together through a vital education program. We also make and develop relationships through an assortment of fellowship activities and a strong youth ministry program. We spread the word of God among ourselves and out into the outlying community and world through various types of witness programs and activities. Finally, Redeemer Lutheran Church is committed to following our Lord’s command to love our neighbor as we engage in any number of relational social outreach programs that involve the prayers, financial gifts, and volunteer hours of many congregants. Many people help spread God’s work in the world though leading and helping with the various ministries listed above. We are always open to new faces and fresh ideas as we seek to live as our Lord’s disciples united in “one Lord, on faith, one baptism.” (Eph. 4:5)
Know that all people are most welcome at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Most of all, we invite you to come and worship with us. Christ always loves and cares for you and you are our friend here at Redeemer. God bless you!
